I am a native South Dakotan, raised in Lake Norden. I attended school in the Hamlin School District and graduated from SDSU in 1983 with a degree in Animal Science. I joined the livestock feed industry working for Cargill after graduation and joined my father’s livestock feed business full time in 1986. I started working for JR in junior high school as a delivery person, and worked part time for JR during high school and college. I remember assisting in ration balancing when it was done by hand! After the passing of my father in 1987, I purchased the company and have been working in the livestock feed industry ever since.

 

I grew up in a family that loved to root for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. I still like to follow them. With Brookings in close proximity, my family enjoys following the SDSU Jackrabbits whenever possible.   I also like to spend time outdoors running a few cow/calf pairs. I enjoy working with the clients I have met over the years and also with the staff here at JR.

 

I am married with 4 children. My wife Sherry is a farm girl from Hazel, South Dakota.  Alex is my oldest son, followed by Emily, Abby, and Kirby.
