Molds, Yeast, Toxin Alert
This year all crops (corn, forages, hay and silages) have high mold and yeast counts and mostly containing toxin producing species.
All corn should be treated to prevent the huge losses from the detrimental effects from toxins and molds.
--Dry Corn going into storage bins after the dryer use JR Ration Enhancer Liquid at 2 lbs. per ton of corn to kill any molds yet present. Do not treat corn prior to the dryer! One tote of liquid Ration Enhancer treats 40,000 bushels of corn.
--High Moisture corn should be treated for storage at the auger depending on moisture content and intended storage time, before putting in the bin.
Example: Use of JR Ration Enhancer
25% moisture stored for 6 mo use 13.2#/ton of HMC (high moisture corn)
25% moisture stored for 9 mo use 16.0#/ton of HMC
25% moisture stored for 12 mo use 19.2#/ton of HMC
1 ton (2,000 lbs.) at 56 lbs. test weight = 35.7 bushels, at 54 lbs. = 37 bushels, at 60 lbs. test weight = 33.3 bushels.
Have all corn sampled for molds, yeast and toxins!
High Moisture corn stored in plastic bags must also be treated to prevent serious problems. Choice of product is JR Buchneri 500, used at the rate of one-250 gram package per 33 tons (1,178 bushels) of high moisture corn.
Mix one package with 12.5 gallons of clean, chlorine-free, cool water and apply at 1.5 quarts per ton of high moisture corn.
Buchneri 500 is very economical to use at < 7 cents/bushel
Any treated/stored corn should be re-tested for toxins prior to feeding!
